This memorial was officially opened on 11 November 1994 by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in commemoration of Tunku’s services and contribution as the nation’s “Father Of Independence”. Tunku Abdul Rahman was the first Malaysian Prime Minister from 1957 to 1970.
These two buildings showcase the history of the Tunku, Tunku journey in gaining independence for Malaysia and a display of his personal collection such as books, illustration and biographies of Tunku and his late wife - Tun Sharifah Rodziah. Visitors can also view audio visuals through the mini theater.
The exterior of the building features two vintage cars used by Tunku while being Prime Minister. This car was also used during the reception ceremony for the arrival of the Merdeka Team from London on 20 Feb 1956 in Malacca.
